Qatar calls for de-escalation, resolution of differences through dialogue in Iraq

Doha: The State of Qatar has expressed its deep concern over the developments in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and called on all parties in Iraq to avoid escalation and exercise the utmost restraint. In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to resolve differences through political dialogue and peaceful means to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Iraqi people for stability and prosperity. The Ministry reiterated Qatar's firm position in support of Iraq's unity, security, and sovereignty.

Al Shamal Municipality launches campaign to remove encroachments 

Doha: Municipal Control Department of Al Shamal Municipality carried out a campaign to clear encroachments from state property. Following the campaign, items such as cabins, tents and bird cages were cleared by the violators who were warned by the Ministry. On their official account on Twitter, the Ministry of Municipality shared before and after pictures and added that immediate communication was made with the perpetrators of these violations, who then cleared up the area. Earlier this year, Al-Shamal municipality, represented by the Technical Control Section of the Municipal Control Department and in cooperation with the Department of Mechanical Equipment removed encroachments on state property in the Ghariyah region.

Qatar Central Bank issues first license to provide digital payment service

Doha: Qatar Central Bank issued the first license in the country for Ooredoo Money and iPay by Vodafone Qatar, to practice the activity of providing digital payment services. This is an initial step to include all companies providing digital payment services under the supervision of the Qatar Central Bank to contribute to the development of the financial technology sector and enhance financial inclusion. Qatar Central Bank recently had launched the mobile payment service Google Pay in the country, reiterating that all global digital wallet services for cards such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay are now accepted in Qatar.
